ABSW Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Application

Please be apprised that the ABSW Foundation has updated its scholarship application and extended the deadline to June 30th, 2022.

The ABSW Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) (3), created by the Association of Black Social Workers of Greater Los Angeles (ABSW-GLA), is pleased to announce its 2022 scholarship opportunity for African American and Black college/university students.  Students should be pursuing a career in social work or social welfare.  


Please see attached NEW application for details. Do not use the application previously sent out.  All applications are due by Thursday June 30th, 2022. Share with your networks!

Criteria for the Foundation Scholarships are as follows:

1. Applicants must show proof of acceptance to an accredited community college , 4 year college or university.
2. Applicants should have a 2.5 GPA or better.
3. Attach the most current official high school, college or university transcript, with the high school, college, or university seal.
4. Applicants should be in pursuit of a degree in Social Welfare or related field.
5. Write a narrative of one (1) page or less on financial need and how the award will benefit you.
6. Write a one (1) page narrative on your community involvement.
7. Attach two (2) letters of character reference (non-family members).
